Find Healing and Clarity with Internal Family Systems Therapy

Virtual Therapy for Adults in Pennsylvania Navigating Grief, Loss, Health Challenges, and Relational Wounds

Are you struggling to make sense of it all?

You’ve always been able to figure things out—breaking down complex situations, staying level-headed when emotions run high, and finding creative solutions no matter the challenge. Problem-solving isn’t just something you do; it’s woven into the fabric of who you are.

But this time, nothing is working.

You’ve tried everything— focusing on what you can control, practicing meditation and breathing exercises, reminding yourself of how things could be worse, even trying to “accept” your current reality. Yet, the racing thoughts, physical tension, and despair won’t go away. It’s exhausting.

You know your feelings are “normal” reactions to what’s going on, and if it were anyone else, you’d reassure them that it’s okay to feel this way. But for you, they feel unbearable most days.

Your needs have never felt bigger, yet they remain frustratingly unclear. Seeking therapy seems like the next logical step, but a part of you hesitates. You’re unsure what kind of help would actually make a difference—therapy can’t change your circumstances. You wonder if a therapist could really offer anything new; anything you haven’t already considered or tried.

You’re not just looking for someone to listen—you’re longing for a shift that brings real, lasting transformation. The kind of change that will make your life feel more whole, more like you again.

Meet Jen Whitehead, MSW, LCSW

welcome!

Hi, I’m Jen (she/her)

I help people reconnect with their inner strength by carrying life’s burdens in a way that feels lighter, not heavier.

I often meet people at a crossroads—exhausted, overwhelmed, and understandably lost in the midst of life’s crises. They want to believe there’s hope, but with shaky ground beneath them and no clear way forward, it feels just out of reach.

Grief, loss, health challenges, and relational wounds can shake our sense of identity and purpose, bringing intense emotions and fears to the surface. And if you’re someone who relies on reasoning and problem-solving, this can feel especially overwhelming. Your mind works overtime, trying to fix a pain that can’t be solved in the usual way.

It’s easy to think that change comes from fixing external problems (I used to believe that too!). But the truth is, these aren’t just problems to solve—they’re profound upheavals that can’t be navigated with logic alone. They require something deeper.

Feel seen and connected with Journey Within Therapy
Reconnect to your authentic self with IFS

What if the real issue isn’t in what you’re looking at, but in how you’re looking at it? (Or more specifically, who inside of you is doing the looking?)

As an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I believe that the journey to real transformation starts from within. I won’t just offer the same old coping strategies you’ve already heard. Instead of trying to control, fix, or analyze your way out of discomfort, I’ll guide you to reconnect with your authentic self—unlocking the innate wisdom and inner resources you already possess.

Together, we’ll journey into your inner world with genuine curiosity and compassion, free from judgment or hidden agendas. We’ll listen to truly understand, recognizing that every thought, emotion, sensation, and behavior serves a protective, positive role— even those that trouble you the most.

This gentle, non-pathologizing approach allows the parts of you that feel overwhelmed to finally be seen and safely connected with, gradually softening their grip and paving the way for real healing.

This process might challenge everything you thought you knew about change. But isn’t that exactly why you’re here?

I specialize in…

Grief and Loss

I help individuals experiencing both death-related and non-death-related losses. Whether you're facing anticipatory grief, overwhelmed by emotions, or struggling with the lasting impact of a major loss or transition, we’ll honor the wisdom of your grief, make sense of your experiences, and gently shape a path forward together.

Physical Illness and Caregiving

I guide individuals, their caregivers, and their family members through the challenges of physical illness, with a focus on life-limiting and terminal conditions. We’ll explore ways to help you feel resourced as you navigate the emotional complexities, unexpected obstacles, and sense of isolation that can come with these new realities and roles.

Parents of Children with
Health Challenges

I support parents through the emotional journey of raising a child with behavioral and physical health concerns. Together, we’ll untangle your emotions, nurture your grief, honor the strength of your love, and discover how to balance the demands of caring for your child with caring for yourself.

Relational Wounds

I work with individuals who’ve experienced complex relational pain, especially the kind that can leave you feeling unseen, unheard, or unloved. By reconnecting with your inner wisdom and resources, we’ll shift the impact of these hurts and build a safe, trusting relationship within yourself and in your connections with others.

Moving Through Grief Workshops

The Moving Through Grief Workshop series offers a nurturing, safe group space for those grieving the loss of a loved one.
